Description
The research was conducted on 557 female (72.3%) and 213 male (27.7%). The sociodemographic features of the families, their food consumption with respect to their economical conditions and their attitudes towards food safety were investigated. It is determined that the shopping are done by the parents in households and freshness, taste and the flavour of the food product are important issues about the buying decision of food products as well as food safety. And also it is determined that the higher the educational and the economical level of the family, the higher the consumption of ready-to-eat food products. The research indicates that the families living in urban areas give more importance to food consumption compared to the ones living in rural areas, and families living in urban areas emphasize the food-borne diseases, especially these originating from foodstuffs of animal origin, than the families living in rural areas.
